Start at: 00:04:10

Speaking to the NICE TV on the sideline of Two-Day International Conference on "Buddhism in Southeast Asia" on the first day, Prof. Ven. Dr Khy Sovanratana, Vice Rector of Preah Sihanouk Raja Buddhist University, Phnom Penh, said: "Social Network is a Double-edged Sword".

Preah Dhammaghosacarya Prof. Ven. Dr Khy Sovanratana said that "Nowadays, there are numerous advanced technology, multiple tools and media especially the very social media" that make news spreading faster and wider.

So, Buddhism also undergoes pressure from social media which is a double-edged sword. If the social media users deliberately shared only bad story or scandals about Buddhism, it would impact the value of Buddhism vary quickly.

When social media users paid attention to circulation and sharing the good news, humanitarian activities and positive activities about Buddhism, it would make Buddhism prosperous.

Hence, those who use luxurious gadgets and multiple social networks should use them in a way that would be beneficial to the Buddhist religion. To make Buddhism prosperous, it is dependent upon the responsible social media users. It is a double-edged sword; if we use it or use it without proper thinking it would create a bad result.
