JNU Green Campus, some views of school areas.

Jawaharlal Nehru University was established in 1969 by an act of parliament. It was named after Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister. The Indian School of International Studies was merged with the Jawaharlal Nehru University in June 1970. Following the merger, the prefix "Indian" was dropped from the name of the School and it became the School of International Studies of the Jawaharlal Nehru University.

It is located in the Urban area with total 1,019 acres (4.12 km2). As of 2017, there are 614 academic staff, 8,432 students (Undergraduates 905, Postgraduates 2,150, Doctoral students 5,219, Other students 158). Current Chancellor is V. K. Saraswat and Vice-Chancellor Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar. JNU was awarded the "Visitor's Award" for "Best University" in 2017 by the President of India. Thanks for watching.
