On Friday, July 12, 2019, Preah Dhammaghosacarya Ven. Prof. Dr. Khy Sovanratana, Vice Rector of Preah Sihanoukraja Buddhist University (SBU) and Advisor to His Holiness the Supreme Sangharaja of Cambodia Samdach TEP VONG, received an invitation letter from the National Office of Buddhism of Thailand informing him that he has been selected for "Suvanna Pathom Chedi Award" for his tireless works in "sustaining, preserving of Buddhism and renovation of Pagodas" in Cambodia over the years.

The award conferring ceremony will be held at Thutthamonthon Auditorium hall, Nakhon Pathom Province, Bangkok on Asalha Puja Day, July 16, 2562/2019. It is noteworthy that unlike in Cambodia, Asalha Puja has been a big celebration in Thailand recognising it as "Dhamma Day".

As a Head Monk of Wat Mongolvan, Phnom Penh, Preah Dhammaghosacarya commits to the clean and hygienic environment of the temple (pagoda) by assigning routine clean-up tasks to (monk and nun) residents of the temple. He leads monastic monks and laypeople to do daily Buddhist practices such as giving Dhammadesana and meditation.

He is also a leading force behind the SBU's procurement of the old buildings of Ministry of Cult and Religion on June 2019. This is one of his long desires in expanding the boundary of this oldest Buddhist university in Cambodia (and third oldest university in Asia) named after the former King and Head of State, late Samdach Norodom Sihanouk. He has a big plan of restructuring and beautifying SBU complex as one of the best Buddhist learning centres in Cambodia and the world.

Preah Dhammaghosacarya has been very active academically and religious-diplomatically. He has been invited by various international Buddhist organisations to preside over the meeting, be chair and moderator of the panel discussion, present papers, reflect ideas and discuss issues of great importance to the promotion and preservation of Buddhist religion as well as the propaganda for inter-faith dialogue, religious harmony, and world peace.

On his own capacity as the Vice Rector of SBU and his duty as the Advisor to the Supreme Sangharaja of Cambodia, he travelled to most of the Asian countries.

He has been on board of director of many international Buddhist associations and organisations such as International Buddhist Confederation (IBC), New Delhi, International Association of Buddhist Universities (IABU), Bangkok, Association of Theravada Buddhist Universities (IATBU), Bangkok, just to name a few. Thus, he is internationally well recognised among world Buddhist leaders.

One of his upcoming schedules is the IBC's invitation he received to participate in a "Symposium on Scholarship for studying Buddhism" in New Delhi on July 20-21, 2019. The Symposium is proposed "to discuss and work out modalities with regard to eligibility criteria, courses to be offered in Indian universities and monasteries, quantum of scholarships etc."

With all well-qualified criteria, Preah Dhammaghosacarya possesses, All Cambodian Students in India (ACSIND) is proud to express heartfelt congratulations in advance on his selection to be the recipient of the "Suvanna Pathom Chedi Award" of National Office of Buddhism of Thailand.

Here, we are proud to mention that Preah Dhammaghosacarya received his PhD in Buddhist Studies from University of Delhi (India) on the 94th Convocation of the University in November 2017, presided over by Honourable Shri Ram Nath Kovind, President of India.

He was sponsored to study in India by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. What he achieved academically and practically has inspired us a lot.
