JNU Student Community Protest Against JNU Administration’s Note on Election Committee

JNU Student Community Protest Against JNU Administration’s Note on Election Committee

Dean of Students Umesh Kadam, in a letter to the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) Election Committee (EC) on September 9, 2019, alleged that it had violated the Lyngdoh Committee Recommendations (LCR) and sought an explanation.

The student-run body EC submitted its reply to Kadam, who is also the Grievance Redressal Cell (GRC) chairman. The  EC on Thursday denied the allegation and said it had conducted the students' body polls "in a free and fair manner" in accordance with the Lyngdoh Committee recommendations.

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday permitted the JNU EC to declare the results of the students union polls held on September 6.

Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva also allowed the JNU Administration to notify the poll results in accordance with Lyngdoh committee recommendations.

The court had restrained the EC from notifying the poll results till September 17. It issued the order on Tuesday while disposing two petitions by two students, who had alleged that their nomination for polls were illegally rejected for election as councillor of JNUSU. (News 18)
