Indian government research training fellowship for students from ASEAN member countries


ASEAN-India Science, Technology and Innovation Cooperation, under Ministry of External Affairs, Indian Government has announced the ASEAN-India Research Training Fellowship (AI-RTF) for students from ASEAN member countries who process Master's Degree in any Natural Science or equivalent degree.

The Fellowship scheme aims to promote mobility of scientists and researchers from the ASEAN-Member Countries to India and provide them with the opportunity to work at Indian R&D/ academic institutions to upgrade their research skills and expertise. It also aims to facilitate the exchange of information and contacts between the scientists and researchers of India and ASEAN Countries and create a network for building research collaborations.

Fifty (50) fellowships shall be awarded to young scientists and researchers from ASEAN-Member Countries to get affiliated with Indian academic and R&D institutions. About five (5) fellowships shall be allocated for each ASEAN country. The duration of the Fellowship will be for a period of two to six months.

The ASEAN students with at least Master's Degree in any National Science or equivalent degree who are under 45 years old can apply for the Fellowship online. The last date for online application submission is August 31 2020. The area/ topic of research for availing AI-RTF must focus on ASEAN under any of the following broad disciplines:

1.Agricultural Sciences
2.Biological and Medical Sciences
3.Chemical Sciences & Engineering
4.Computer Science & Engineering
5.Physical Sciences and Mathematics
6.Ocean, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences
7.Engineering Sciences
8.Materials, Minerals and Metallurgy
9.Science Policy / IPR Management / Technology Transfer & Commercialisation
10.Other multi-disciplinary areas of Science, Technology and Innovation in alignment with APASTI.

The selected fellows will get all international travel-related expenses, Rs. 50,000 per month of non-taxable stipend and a one-month of Rs. 40,000 with several other benefits.
